Portfolio Manager - Wine
Chris Austin hales from the Bay Area in Northern California where he got his start in wine at an early age by tasting blind with his father at the dinner table. After graduating from George Washington University in D.C. he began his career in restaurants, working in all facets - from bartending to front of the house management - before hearing the sirens call of the kitchen. After working several years at KOMI, one of the top restaurants in the city, he moved to New York with his wife to further his career. He cooked at several top restaurants in Brooklyn before opening his own food truck, and eventually a Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand recommended restaurant named Glady’s. He ran both the beverage program and the kitchen, until he made the decision to get back to his roots by moving back to the West Coast; there he began working in beverage distribution- eventually becoming a portfolio manager for American Northwest.
